TC YOUNG FOUNDATION

"One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the World" Malala

The T.C. Young Foundation (杨天全基金会) is an American, non-profit organization focused on education particularly in China. It started as the dream of a man born poor in Nancheng in the Jiang Su province. Looking back at his life, T.C. Young realized that education opened many doors for him."Poverty is not a disgrace; disgrace lies in poverty without ambition."  T.C. Young
Since 1995, in partnership with the Nancheng Middle School, in Jiang Su province, the Foundation has awarded annually merit-based scholarships to high-performing students and Golden Apple Awards to exceptional teachers. It has paid out over $100,000 USD in awards. In 2022, the Foundation introduced the "New Teacher" award at the Nancheng Middle School. It rewards a promising teacher who has joined the School within the last 3 years. The Foundation has also been awarding two college scholarships per year to former graduates of the Middle School.  In 2019 the Foundation started a partnership with the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago.  The Foundation programs in higher education are detailed in later pages.
2024 Highlights: At Harris: Cici Chen, the third T.C. Young scholar, graduated in June 2024 with a MPP degree. Lijie Shen and Renge Zhou will be the next scholars starting in the Fall 2024. In China, Xu Ming Xuan graduated in June from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine.
