TC YOUNG FOUNDATION

"One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the World" Malala

"Poverty is not a disgrace; disgrace lies in poverty without ambition."  T.C. Young - "A Chinese View of Life"

The T.C. Young Foundation (杨天全基金会) is a non-profit organization that supports education in Jiang Su, China through student scholarships and teacher awards. It started as the dream of a man born poor in Nancheng in the Jiang Su province. Looking back at his life, TC Young realized that education opened many doors for him.

In partnership with the Nancheng Middle School, the Foundation has awarded annually merit-based and need-based scholarships to high-performing students and Golden Apple Awards to exceptional teachers. Since 1995, the Foundation has paid out over $100,000 USD in awards. In line with the current standard of living in China, the Foundation scholarships range from $150 USD to over $200 USD.

In 2019 the Foundation continued its student merit scholarships and its Golden Apples awards for teachers.  The 2019 awards were given out on November 28th.  The Foundation also resumed its college scholarship. The winner of the award was a student in Traditional Chinese medicine at Nanjing University. It also entered into a 4 year partnership with the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago.
